Knitting 101: The Basics

For complete beginners age 15 and up. Learn the basics of knitting (cast on, knit, purl, bind off) in two classes while making a scarf. Left-handed knitting will be taught to left-handed students. All materials included. $58

For complete beginners age 15 and up. Learn the basics of crochet (chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet, fastening off and sc seaming) in two classes. We will also make a crocheted mason jar cozy (which makes an adorable pencil cup) during the second session. Yarn and hook provided; bring your own glass jar. $58

Sewing 101: Pajama Pants
3 weeks, Wednesday 6:30-9:00 pm
June 13-27
For complete beginners age 15 and up. Learn basic cutting, sewing, and pattern-reading skills by making a pair of pajama pants. Bring your own non-stretch cotton fabric, elastic, and thread; bring your own machine or use ours. Pattern and other supplies provided. $98

For beginners age 15 and up. Learn basic hand embroidery techniques and stitches by making the adorable Daisychain Sampler by Alicia Paulson. Stitches to be covered are: backstitch, stem stitch, French knot, lazy daisy stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, long and short stitch, and fly stitch. You may also mount and frame your work at the last class. All materials for stitching the sampler are included in the cost of the class; pattern .pdf ($6) and framing supplies must be purchased separately by each student. $132
Sewing 202: Pillows Three Ways
4 weeks, Monday 6:30-9:00 pm
April 23-May 14
For beginning to intermediate students age 15 and up; prerequisite 100-level class, private lessons, or equivalent experience. Build basic pattern-making, rotary cutting, sewing, and finishing skills by making three types of pillows: envelope closure, zip closure, button closure. Piping/applied trim is optional on any or all of the three. Bring your own non-stretch home-decorating-weight fabrics, pillow forms, and notions. We will create our own patterns. Bring your machine if you have one so you can learn how to use your own zipper foot and buttonhole function. Some homework may be necessary depending on your design choices. $138
Sewing 203: Skirts
4 weeks, Wednesday 6:30-9:00 pm
April 18-May 9
For beginning to intermediate students age 15 and up; prerequisite 100-level class, private lessons, or equivalent experience. Further and develop your sewing skills including zipper installation by making a spring skirt. You may choose Simplicity pattern 2226 or 2257. Bring your own pattern, non-stretch fabric, and notions. Some homework may be necessary depending on your design choices. $138
Sewing 301: Dresses
4 weeks, Wednesday 6:30-9:30 pm
May 16-June 2
For intermediate students age 15 and up; prerequisite 200-level class, private lessons, or equivalent experience. Bring in the simple dress pattern of your choice and get help with the tricky parts. We will cover a variety of techniques as they come up, including facings, zipper installation, gathering, pleats, darts, and hems. Please be prepared to do some sewing at home between classes depending on your skill level and the complexity of your pattern. Students provide their own materials; contact Kristin for pattern recommendations if you need ideas. $158

Details
Classes are limited to four students maximum. A full materials list and syllabus as well as detailed directions to the Studio and a list of local fabric stores will be provided to you upon registration.
Remember that you can always sign up for private lessons if the classes don’t fit your schedule! Private lessons are on a flexible schedule and you can bring in any project you want.
